And so the Hole Closes....

April 9, 2010

The last lift rides at Jackson Hole this season were super fun. The closing day celebration is always a riot of a party here. This year since winter came for the last week of the season it made a great end to the lift rides. The morning started with some bombs to wake me from my slumber and a quick check to the avalanche report. With a few new inches of fresh and 25" in the last two days, I knew it was going to make a sweet last day. My sister and I sported some old school duds and headed to Teton Village. A few more spins on the tram and one more trip out into Jackson's back country. We skied a fun long couloir called Broken Branch off of Four Pines, a quick boot pack out the gates. I had not skied this run all season and to end the season at the resort with it felt good. Not long, we were back into the madness with the party people and cruising some groomers. We grabbed one more tram to hang out on the mountain until about 7 p.m., thanks daylight savings. Wild times with some crazy fellow skiers up there included but was not limited to: fireworks, hot dogs, Jim Beam and praising hoots to Ullr to close out my season. I can't wait until next season's lifts start spinning. With the surprise late winter I am sure that the Tetons will be collecting snow for some awesome spring skiing! Signing off in celebration of snow, Hannah Horigan

The Sisters Horigan go out with a bang!
